Captured of Today’s Solar Eclipse
Living on the coast in Los Angeles, I was bit worried this morning with the clouds overhead at 9AM – but as ‘full coverage’ arrived (well, 60% for us down here), the clouds parted way for this capture! I would love to see full coverage, but since these don’t happen to often, I’m pretty happy… Read More
Shooting in Santa Monica
(click through for more images) Update from LATimes: Still don’t have a lot of information, heard there was a murder/break in in #SantaMonica, that someone was shot or someone was stabbed. But one thing was for sure, the suspect is still on the loose with police helicopters hovering overhead. Heard them overhead saying “come out… Read More

Dominican Republic – Boca Chica Day 2
We woke up to a knocking on the door and being told “Hurry, we are leaving now!” We sprang up, tried to orient ourselves, got ready, and scrambled out the door in minutes flat. Unfortunately, we missed breakfast as a result. There’s a team of doctors and practitioners from New Jersey who came down to… Read More
Temescal Canyon Hike
Today we went on a hike in Pacific Palisades through Temescal Canyon (https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/temescal-canyon-loop-trail) and had a great time. It’s a 3 mile loop with some climbing, but not too badly. Did most of the loop as a horsey ride between my wife and I with the little one. However, the flowers were blooming, the waterfall… Read More
Downtown Los Angeles
I drove downtown to shoot the moon last night. Unfortunately, I missed the full moon by one night and since I hadn’t shot for quite some time, I was fumbling with my settings. It’s true what they say, I need to be around my camera daily to keep everything fresh and top of mine. After… Read More
Day 216 – Bubbles!
I took these in 2014 and haven’t really tried since. These are soap bubbles and were quite the challenge! This is something I definitely want to try again, but need to get the proper materials. The set up was – I took a coat hangar and fashioned it into a spear and wrapped with some… Read More

Day 104 – Santa Monica Bay
Yesterday was a long day – a loved one went under the knife and at the end of the day, I drove down to Palisade Park to process. It’s one of my favorite places to unwind – the bluff above PCH. It was a chilly day (by Southern California standards; 62 degrees) and windy. The… Read More

Day 74 – Masterlock
I’m practicing off camera flash lighting now and am having a heck of a time! Certain folks say “Manual is the only way to go, you aren’t a pro if you aren’t manual”. Then the other side; “ETTL saves a step or two, is incredibly fast (especially for event photography or street photography), but I’m… Read More

But more about… Read More

Day 49 – Moments
I’ve undertaken this daily challenge and have really enjoyed it. At a minimum, it forces me to take a picture every day, hold my camera, run through the ‘triangle’ of Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO. Also, determining the ‘creatively correct’ exposure, not just correct exposure. Do I want moody? Bokeh? Sharpness throughout? B/W? Color? Desatura1ted… Read More
