Venice Beach – I love this place. Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad I live in Santa Monica, but Venice is quite the eclectic place. I’ve always enjoyed the clown over the CVS pharmacy and have wanted to capture it. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of traffic tonight, so the sunset was gone creating a low light situation. Since I have very fast glass (f/1.2), I shot at f/1.2 in order to generate an acceptably sharp photo with (relatively) low noise (higher shutter speed, lower ISO). However, it lacked a certain pop and with the street lights, I wanted the starbursts. Therefore, I stopped down to f/11, which required a much higher ISO and lower shutter speed. Unfortunately, i didn’t have my tripod with me so I wanted handheld, hence the high ISO. I’m happy with the bursts – i leaned against a pole to try and stabilize the shot more.
Shot with Canon 5DmkIII, 50mm f/1.2, f/11, ISO 6400, 1/20″
